There's a crack in my chi straightener plug?

I went to plug my straightener in and it electrocuted me (not bad, but I couldn't plug the straightener all the way in). I examined the plug on the straightener and theres small cracks on it and it was also a little wet. I dried it off and attempted again, but it shocked me again. Could it be because of the cracks on it? And if so, does this mean I'm going to have to buy a new 100 dollar straightener? : (
