Christmas gift for co-worker?

She is an older person (50+ years) and her husband is dying of cancer. He isn't doing too well right now and I'm afraid he hasn't got much longer. I'd like to get her a small gift for Christmas but I don't want to give something improper. Suggestions are greatly appreciated!
